The NARI or the National Association of the Remodeling Industry conducted a poll of their builders and developers. According to the result, while most people did not start any major renovation because of the poor economy, now is the right time to work on smaller projects around your home.



Here are the top 12 Home Remodeling Trends for 2011:



1. Save Money: Remodel Your Bathroom. Remodeling your bathroom cost you less than remodeling other parts of your home.



2. Must-Do Remodeling Projects. People now prioritize the "have-to" projects rather than the "want-to" projects.



3. Warming up the House. The colored and warm tiles are back! People are now moving away from minimalist designs. There is a combination of earth and modern designs.



4. Getting Decked Out. According to George Christiansen of Pequot Remodeling Corporation, people now want to sit outside their house and are staying at home more frequently. Also, many pools are built in the neighborhood.




5. Hiring a Great Contractor. According to Darius Baker of D & J Kitchens and Baths, Inc. people are now more active in coordinating with their contractor.



6. Paying in cash. More people are now paying cash than borrowing money from loans.



7. Opening rooms. Open floor plans help families be more flexible with the square footage they already have.



8. Bronze Age. Together with the come-back of warmer tones, warmer tones in metallic feature are back.



9. Going Green. Green products are in. Bamboo floors and grass thatched roofs are something new.



10. Industrial flair. Touch of industrial principle will still be in such as stainless steel cable and exposed beams.



11. Creating Relaxation Space. More people now are considering making a relaxing space at home like a Zen- a peaceful are in their home where they can relax and relieve their stress.
